Kennywood
A Response To Why Kennywood is Awesome

The questions are posed…

> Why does everyone think this park is so awesome?

> Every review/opinion of this park seems to come from people who grew up in the area, and have

> visited this park over and over since they were children.

I mean no disrespect of your Kennywood Opinions put please read my comments.

Let me guess. Your home park is obviously a big themer? You have what I call "Paramount Syndrome". How do I know that because I have it also. Let me explain...

I only visited my home park of Paramount Canada's Wonderland for the first two years when we got into this coaster thing. One my first parks outside of PCW that I visited was PKI in 1998. We thought all parks were like Paramount. When we started to visit smaller parks I expected the same "Paramount" treatment at these smaller parks. It was during my first visit to Kennywood in 1999 that I realized that not all park are the same and we should appreciate each for what they have to offer.

Quite simply Kennywood has character and real history. Kennywood is like visiting a museum but the difference here is that you are allowed to touch the exhibits. If you don't get Goosebumps when you see Jack Rabbit and Racer for the first time my friend you no nothing about the history of Kennywood.

"Kennywood Roller Coaster Capital of the World" I said, "are they crazy making this claim" CP, PKI, PCW have more coasters than they do. Then I realized after reading both of Charles J's books that Kennywood indeed is the Roller Coaster Capital of the World. Kennywood through out the years have survived when so many of its competitors have failed. They brilliantly survived WWI, Depression, WWII, and the 50's when so many other park closed.

You have paid your cash to get into Kennywood and indeed you are entitled to your opinion(s). We rate Kennywood as our favourite traditional amusement park. I could go on for hours why Kennywood is so special and this comes from someone who has not grown up anywhere near Kennywood

Kevin Reid
