TR - The acers Invade PCW with the PCW Junkies (pt 2) - August 11&12, 2000
Originally this was to be a 2 part TR, but I'm using my poetic license and making it a three partner. Look for the conclusion to be posted this evening.
Saturday 8/12
We were treated to another great Donna Reid breakfast and spent several hours exchanging coaster & non-coaster stories. Soon it was time for another meal. After we ate we said goodbye to Norma Jean, Ken, Douglas and Christopher, who were headed off to visit other relatives. Soon after they left we headed back to PCW for more fun. In keeping with "Kevin's Rule", not wearing a shirt from the park you are visiting, and making us feel more welcome, Mr. Reid had chosen to wear a Legend "T" shirt. Proving we were tourists and supporting another Indiana park, we wore Indiana Beach 75th Anniversary "T" shirts.
Arriving around 1 PM, we had to park in row H. This was unheard of and we would later up-grade, closer to the entrance. We entered the park and made our way around, riding Dragon Fire,Wilde Beast, Ghoster Coaster and Taxi Jam (thanks to Adam & Nolan) and taking photos was we went. Taking a break, we tasted some of the local cuisine, pepperoni pizza at Pizza, Pizza (the best food and value according to the PCW Junkie) and Blue Ice Cream for desert. This would hold us until we returned home for another great meal from Donna's kitchen.
We headed for the water park, to take more photos. Next up was the Minebuster, the Fly, Vortex and Skyrider. The more adventurous did the Racer Rivers (slides with water). After that we rode the Carousal and Swing of Century in hopes that Scott would dry off. We bought PCW 20th Anniversary "t" shirts (what a bargain, 2 for $20 Canadian) The men made a trip to the car to get rid of the cameras & shirts and get jackets. We managed a night ride on the Minebuster and saw most of the Eruption before the park closed. (I know I'm forgetting something here.) After the short drive "home" we talked until very late, while devouring our delicious meal. Our room was up-grade from the computer room to Nanny's (at Donna's insistence). Early tomorrow we would have to head home.
Sunday 8/13 We enjoyed Donna's cooking and the Reid hospitality one last time. I think we left later than we had planned because we enjoyed being around these people so much. Sadly, they live 500 miles away! The drive home was uneventful, Scott slept while I drove, Scott drove while I slept and the conversation in-between was spent recapping our fantastic time with a very classy family.
