Continued from PCW visit- Canada Day Weekend 2001
We met the next morning at SFDL as the park opened. The Reid's beat us there by about ten minutes, and Donna was beginning to wonder if the pleading and convincing had worn off on Shari. First on the agenda: Superman. As we walked under Predator, a cheer was heard from Kevin as we saw that BOTH trains were actually running. A short (15 min) queue line later, we were on-board. The Ries and Reid boys had become inseparable, and were riding together. Evan and Adam were on the first train in car 2, seat 1. Shari and I, finally riding together for a change, were on the next train, with Scott & Carol, and Alex & Nolan. The ride was up to it's usual brilliance: fast and smooth. Since Kevin was riding alone, (Donna waited below), when Evan and Adam returned, Adam re-rode with Kevin, and Evan got lucky: upon return, the people waiting for seats 1-2 were waiting 1 train, and Evan rode again. When they returned, 1-2 was waiting 1 train again, so Kevin and Adam moved up one and got to ride again! Regrouping below, we all couldn't believe that Adam got 3 rides for 1 wait, and Evan and Kevin got 2!
As we walked back up the hill, the rain began. We all took refuge in the entrance to Predator. Scott and Carol, being die-hard enthusiasts, rode it in the rain. After a slight rain abatement, the boys and ladies headed to the chicken food place, while the men ran to the cars to fetch the rain gear. The coasters had shut down due to lightning, and I secretly wondered if my park visit count would exceed my coaster count for the weekend.
As one might have expected, as soon as we all donned our rain gear, the sun came out. Boomerang started running shortly thereafter, and we rode since it was a walk-on. Neat twist on this one. Not sure if it was some kind of malfunction, but every time a train would ascend the 2nd hill, it would catch the chain, then roll back about 6 feet before going higher.
Headed over to Viper next, which was a decently enjoyable ride for an Arrow looper. On the way to Mind Eraser (the Vekoma H&B), we checked out Brain Teaser, but it was closed. Ascending the steps to Mind Eraser we discovered the station was packed. Anxious to head to MFI, others in our party didn't want to wait, so we bailed. Scott and Carol decided to stay and ride. I wanted to ride Superman again before we left, so over we went. Disappointment ensued: only one train was running (I would love a technical explanation as to why) and the line looked to be over a hour long. MFI Anxiety was high, so we decided to leave.
Park Visits: 3, Coasters ridden: 3
