We had such a great time on Saturday I felt I owed it to SFDL to do this. I realize that I might have been a wee bit harsh with my comments back in May. Over the summer I came to realize that not all parks are like Paramount. Accept them for what they are and go in with a positive attitude. The Reids had their good buddy, Shaggy, with them and we wanted to have a good day.
May20th opening comments:
1) Lodge on the Lake rating (A+)
2) Superman Ride of Steel rating (A+)
3) Batman Stunt Show rating (A+)
But, this is where the good stuff ends.
4) Ride operators rating (F-)
5) Security rating (F-) (F minus squared) (bunch of hillbilly wannabes )
6) Beaver Brother Restaurant rating (Z-) ( Beyond pathetic ) (I could write paragraphs on
this one)
7) Landscaping rating (F-) Terrible constant smell from the black top and that green stuff
they sprayed everywhere to grow grass.
Take backs:
#4 Ride ops- Ride ops were all pleasant and seemed to go about their
task in a professional manner.
#5 Security They were very helpful when we asked
them a question. Witnessed no hillbilly wannabes.
#6 Beaver Brother was closed But, understand from
others that things have improved.
#7 I still hate blacktop and will not change on this.
But, the weather was not a factor in the heat generated from blacktop on Saturday.
May 20th :
Then "Jim the Nazi Ride Op" goes up and down the platform with his height check
stick threatening to smash your toes if they cross the yellow line. When we get to the
front of the queue I ask him what is wrong with the second train. He responds,
"nothing and that I normally works on the Boomerang". (Mental note - stay away
from Boomerang)
Take Back:
Shaggy and I did ride the Boomerang on Saturday and Jim was present. Jim waved at
everybody as they were raised up the lift hill. Jim is a different person that I
experienced in May.
May 20th :
We get to the entrance of Superman at about 7:25PM and we are greeted by a ride op and a
security wannabe and the ride is already closed. We both feel cheated. The queue is less
than half full and it is only 7:30PM. Donna and I go back to the Lodge to pick up coats
for everybody else. We come back from the Lodge and pass by the Superman queue at about
7:50PM and the ride is already empty.
Take Back:
On Saturday I was talking to the S:ROSs on ride photo attendant and he explained it
was normal practice for them to close the ride before that park closed to clear the
queues. It is their park and their policy and I should not expect something the same just
because Paramount does it that way.
May 20th :
FINAL SUMMARY
1) SFDL can advertise all they want because the ads will only get you to the park the
first time, and it is how the parks treats you as a guest that brings you back.
2) Superman:ROS is a great ride but, one great ride does not make a park. Get rid of the
bad ride ops and security with that hillbilly attitude. Send their people to Paramount to
see how employees should treat their guests.
3) Lodge on the Lake is a really nice place. I cant believe it is run by same
company. Along with the Batman Stunt show, also worth the trip.
TIP FOR SFDL GUESTS
Stay at the Lodge, see the Batman Stunt Show, Ride Superman lots of times. Get into your
car and either head south towards PKD, PKI or head north to PCW to see what it is like to
be treated like a welcomed guest. PCW is less than 3 hours away and your US $ is worth 50%
more here in Canada
Take Back:
#1 still holds true. But we will return because we were
treated like guests and not suckers.
#2 Still True. Ride op experience was greatly improved. I
have learnt this summer not to expect Paramount treatment at all the parks we visited.
#TIP- We did feel welcome at SFDL on Saturday and did not
feel a need to rush off to a Paramount Park.
